WHY?
There’s always a challenge when you want to move a koi on — maybe you’ve got too many of the same type, outgrown a particular fish, or want to make a change. But finding the right home responsibly is tough. Now there’s a simple, structured way to do it. Koi Select connects sellers and buyers securely, solving a long-standing problem in the hobby.

Why would Koi Select do this? Isn’t it reckless?
No it’s not. This is a far more structured and transparent approach than the informal sales happening daily. We offer clear terms, secure payments, and better protection for both buyers and sellers.

WHAT WE DO?
We facilitate the sale of pre-owned koi between private parties. Sellers submit photos and details; we list the fish on the Koi Select platform. Koi Select never takes possession of the fish — the seller always holds the fish. We collect payment from the buyer on the site, retain a percentage (as agreed), and pay the seller once the transaction is confirmed complete.

We then supply both buyer and seller with each other’s contact details to arrange transport directly. All sellers must complete a short koi listing form that includes the fish details as well as the full seller terms and agreements.

HOW?
IMPORTANT: Koi may only be sold regionally unless the seller has explicitly agreed to arrange national shipping. Each listing will state whether national shipping is available, using clear labels such as “Joburg Buyers Only” or “National Buyers.” If national shipping is not indicated, buyers must assume the sale is for regional buyers only.

RESPONSIBILITIES
SELLERS MUST:
• Abide by the rules set out by Koi Select linked to this transaction.
• Complete the koi listing form with full details and agreement to terms.
• Provide accurate photos and koi information.
• Hold and care for the koi until handover.
• Be truthful about condition, size, and history.
• Disclose any known issues.
• Arrange handover/delivery directly with buyer.

BUYERS MUST:
• Accept koi condition as per the listing.
• Arrange and pay for transport.
• Communicate clearly and promptly with seller.
• Understand they are buying from a private party, not from Koi Select.
• Ensure they are ready and able to receive the koi responsibly.

GOVERNANCE & TRUST
Koi Select reserves the right to approve who may sell on the site. Sellers and buyers with poor conduct may be removed at our discretion. Trustworthy participants who consistently act responsibly may be recommended to others.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER
By listing a koi for sale or purchasing through the Koi Select platform, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following:
– Koi Select (Quinton Jones) acts solely as an online facilitator, providing a platform to connect private buyers and sellers.
– Koi Select does not own, inspect, verify, or take possession of any koi listed, and makes no representations or warranties regarding the health, size, condition, or suitability of any koi.
– All transactions are conducted directly between buyer and seller, who are responsible for arranging payment, transport, and completion of the sale.
– Koi Select is not a party to any transaction, and bears no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, injury, delay, misrepresentation, or dispute arising from any transaction or listing.
– By using this platform, both buyers and sellers waive any claim against Koi Select (including Quinton Jones and affiliates) related to the listing, sale, or transport of any koi.
– Any disputes must be resolved directly between buyer and seller, without involvement or arbitration by Koi Select.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the Koi Select platform.By agreeing to upload your fish on the site, or by agreeing through purchase, you accept the following:
• Koi Select (Quinton Jones) takes no responsibility for these transactions. All sales are between private parties, facilitated via the Koi Select website.
• Responsibility lies with the buyer and seller to uphold the agreed terms. Any dispute must be settled directly between them, not through Koi Select.
